Our mission is to help ensure the best possible Music Education program in the Chelmsford public schools, and to provide
CFoM accomplishes its mission in the following ways:
- Providing financial aid to students who cannot afford instrument rentals or lessons
- Acknowledging individual and group musical accomplishments
- Purchasing equipment/instruments for supported groups and individuals
- Funding enrichment programs to inspire new students to participate in music and motivate students to strive for a higher levels of performance
- Fundraising for large capital expenditures/endowments
- Acting as an educational and equipment resource for parents, students, and communities
- Offering cultural/recreational events in the community
- Providing political support for music programs in the public schools
- Providing a volunteer work force for school music events scholarship assistance to worthy applicants.
Announcements Chelmsford Friends of Music Auction and Cabaret The Chelmsford Friends of Music Auction opens for bidding on January 8, 2012 at 6:00 PM EST Time. Our goal this year is to raise funds to support our music programs. All of the items will also be available at our Cabaret Night on Saturday evening, January 21st starting at 7:00 PM. The Cabaret will feature musical performances from students and staff including several ensembles from the orchestra, jazz band and choir groups. Tickets for the Cabaret Night are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Light refreshments will be served during the event. The Cabaret takes place at the Chelmsford Senior Center, 75 Groton Road Chelmsford, MA. If you would like to help with this event or for more information, please contact Bob Sciaudone at chelmsfordfriendsofmusic@gmail.com or Dave LaPierre at davelapierre@gmail.com  CFoM Bottle and Can DrivesThe Chelmsford Friends of Music, with the help of music teachers, music students, and parents, hold a monthly Bottle and Can Drive in the back parking lot at McCarthy Middle School on the 2nd Saturday of each month (March through November) from 10 am until 2 pm. Please save your returnable cans and bottles (relatively clean and uncrushed) and drop them off to us at these events. Bottles and cans must display the return information for them to be redeemable. This is one of our primary fund raising events and we appreciate your donations each month. Volunteer Form Link - Click HERE  Charlie Farren and the Chelmsford High School Music Department - Concert last MayChelmsford's own rock star, Charlie Farren (formerly of Farrenheit and the Joe Perry Project) performed on Sunday, May 22nd with students from the CHS Band, Orchestra, Chorus, and Guitar programs. The concert also featured the CHS Battle of the Bands winner, "The Vectormen."
Heartfelt thanks go out to Charlie, the faculty and student members of the Fine and Performing Arts Department who participated, and all of the CFoM and parent helpers who volunteered to help this event be a success. Thanks, too, to all who attended, bought raffle tickets, and showed their appreciation with their enthusiastic reception for all the performers.
